Make your USB Boot drive plug and play
Here is a startup (first) project using FreeDOS on a USB drive. As you will see here FreeDOS can be made very user friendly. There are things that FreeDOS can, do that windows can’t do. Many of the projects on this site will be of the type that windows can’t do. Once you get the hang of things, you should Be able to build this project in less than two minutes from start to finish. Do the three steps below to compleat the project.
Click “Boot USB” drives to go to step one, to check and see if your computer is new enough to boot from a USB drive.
Click “make boot” in step two on how to make your first USB bootable drive.
Click “Add Contents” in step three on how to add your first contents.
Below is in the making and partly completed.
After finishing the FreeDOs 3 step setup, you have different choices.
1. [easy].. You can add more contents of your FreeDOS USB drive that you made. Make it you way and just play. Add pictures, games, spread sheets, graphics, word editors etc. I have an assortment of files to select from . They will be put up on this site soon. See Download button. A partial list is in the “add contents” package.
2. [nurdy].. Become a nurd and build your own things. A complete FreeDOS package is in the making. It is mostly done. But not all of the packages are completely tested. It will contain all of the compilers, assembler, and linkers needed to build it self and other applications.
3. [difficult].. Make a totally different USB Drive using some ones already made ISO files. Check out the “ISO info” button at left. I have downloaded may different ways to make a totally different USB Drives. All of them are complicated. So until I find ones that are easy or can put one together, you are on your own.
